The challenge
Organizers aimed to have control over the entry and exit of event personnel, volunteers, athletes, delegations, and staff. Given the international nature of the event, the safety of the competitors was a top priority. It was also crucial to familiarize all invited nationalities with the system’s operation.
The Solution
With mycashless as part of their strategy, branded cards of different colors were used, each configured with access types determined by personnel. Everyone was required to carry these cards with their accreditations. Upon entering an access point, the cards were scanned with a Fastpass device. Access was granted if the screen appeared in green, indicating the card’s access type. Otherwise, access was denied. The organization had uncertainties about how the overall operation would be with this implementation. However, the system aligned with all their needs, and the adoption of cashless® and Fastpass by athletes and all staff members was quickly achieved.
The Results
Total control over entry and exit, venue movement, and healthy interaction among athletes and staff were achieved. Over 4,000 chips were activated, yielding an ROI of 13x. Initially, vendors had doubts about the system and how they would receive their earnings, but all experienced increased income. In the end, they appreciated the reporting functions, providing practical insights into daily sales and serving as a tool for auditing and inventory management.
